The fishing village of Mallaig is located on Scotland’s west coast. The main route to Mallaig is via Fort William – the second largest town in the Highlands – either by road on the scenic A830 “Road to the Isles’ or by train on the majestic West Highland Line.
By Car from Glasgow:
Take the A82 out of Glasgow this takes you all the way to Fort William, from there Mallaig is well signposted with access via the A830 (The Road to the Isles).
By Bus from Glasgow:
If you are travelling by bus to Fort William, the Scottish Citylink website gives all necessary timetable details. Car hire is available in Fort William, or you can carry on to Mallaig using the train.
By train from Glasgow:
Scotrail runs a regular service from Glasgow Queen Street to Mallaig along the famous West Highland Line. Timetable details are available on the Scotrail website.
By ferry from Skye:
Daily services are operated to Mallaig from Armadale. There are also daily sailings from the small Isles of Eigg, Rum, Muck and Canna. All of these are operated by Caledonian MacBrayne.
